From 15 August 2011, the Migration Regulations 1994 (the Regulations) are amended to extend, for a further two year period, the operation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 25 January 1995 between Australia and the People's Republic of China (PRC), which relates to the PRC's status as a safe third country for Vietnamese nationals who have been previously granted refugee status in the PRC, or their close relatives or dependants, who are seeking protection in Australia.
