There have been enormous changes in education over the past few decades, and this trend is unlikely to differ in the future. While many people expect that the current system will totally disappear in 2050, others hold that the essence and spirits of learning are always the same.
On one hand, the world in 2050 will definitely embrace numerous innovations that beyond our wildest imaginations, and so will education. The focus of schools will be creativity and fast learning rather than memorizing, as the era will spawn new creations at a dizzy speed. There will also be an emphasis on nurturing entrepreneurs rather than the Organisation Man, since the corporate-dominated economy will be replaced by a free one, in which everyone will have their own business. Moreover, much more people will expect to live in various countries and cultural backgrounds, and therefore education will be conducted in multiple languages.
On the other hand, there is no doubt that acquiring knowledge will still be the theme for most people’s adolescence during the next four decades. Students will still have to put lots of efforts so as to excel in science and law, though the contents of learning could be totally different. Moreover, teaching principles of sociology and art are unlikely going to change, since the humanity beneath these subjects is immortal and eternal.
In general, I would expect that education in 2050 could be unfamiliar for us, but the desire for human beings to pursue the unknown will always be the same. |
