Dear Mr Lin
Previously, you will have received a letter offering you a place in the above
course at a tuition fee rate to be advised. In that letter, we quoted the then current rates for your proposed course: $16,000. The tuition fees for 2004 have now been determined and the fee applicable to your course is $21,120.
The Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) premium applicable to your proposed
enrolment date is $A295 per annum for single cover. The amount quoted on your
offer letter may be different as the OSHC rate changes from year to year and
the current rate may not have been available at the time of your offer.
What happens now?
If you have accepted our offer of admission and paid the amount requested in
your offer letter-
(a) as a package offer, further fees at the annual rate of $21,120 will be
payable as previously advised; or
b) as a non-package offer, please pay the additional amount of $2,560 by 31st December.
If you wish to accept our offer of admission-
(a) as a package offer, please pay the amount advised in your original offer
letter (subsequent fee instalments will be adjusted in accordance wih the
increase advised in this letter); or
(b) as a non-package offer, please pay the first instalment requested in that
letter plus $2,560.
Tuition Fees: Important changes
Until now, fees for courses at the University of Sydney have been stated as
annual fees. Students have paid the same fee at which they initially enrolled
for the duration of their course of study.
From 2005, course fees will no longer be fixed at the initial enrolment level
for the full course of study. The fees students pay will change each year to
reflect any increases in fees for the second and subsequent years of study. It is expected fees will rise approximately 5% each year.
In addition, the University will be moving from fees set at an annual level to fees based on a cost per unit (subject). This change will be introduced in
stages. From Semester 1 2004, tuition fees for Postgraduate Degrees by
Coursework at the University of Sydney will be based on a cost per unit
(subject) rather than on an annual basis. From Semester 1 2005, it is currently proposed this change will also include all Undergraduate degrees. These changes will better reflect the actual cost of the delivery of a degree.
