B-2 to F-1 my friend sumited his application to INS for status change B-2 to F-1 on april 2, 2002. he received a letter from INS on april 3, 2002, in which it said ,"this is in reference to your application to change nonimmigrant status, form i-539, received on april 3, 2002. enclosed is your fee receipt. processing time for this type of application is 30 days."
according to my friends case, the news you quoted from newspaper was not accurate. INS still accept the application of status change B-1 to F-1.further more they are speeding up to handle with those cases.
what is your opinion on my friend's application.
