的一组视频，展示了两头游泳健将——猩猩“库珀”(Kooper)和“苏里亚”(Suryia)的特殊游泳技能。报道称，这两头猩猩的游泳动作与人类的蛙泳类似。

作为实验对象的这两头猩猩是分开被拍摄游泳视频的。黑猩猩库珀在密苏里州游泳池里向人们展示了它不仅会游泳，还会潜到水下捡东西的技能。而红毛猩猩苏里亚是在南卡罗来纳州一家私人动物园被拍摄游泳视频的。视频显示，她轻松自如地游过了12米的距离。美国当地媒体报道称，尽管视频显示，两头猩猩的动作略有差异——黑猩猩库珀后腿同时蹬出，红毛猩猩两腿交替往外蹬，但它们游泳时的腿部动作都与人类蛙泳的动作相似。

        来自南非威特沃特斯兰德大学(the University of the Witwatersrand)的研究员雷纳托•本德(Renato Bender)表示，猩猩会游泳真的很令人惊讶，尤其是一直以来，猩猩被公认为是怕水的动物。来自德国伯尔尼大学(the University of Bern)的尼克尔•本德博士(Dr Nicole Bender)表示，尽管有过猿类动物游泳行为的完整记录，但是库珀和苏里亚是第一对可以和人类合作拍视频的猩猩。
