Ken Lee, the owner and co-founder of Bing Lee electrical goods, has died.
Mr Lee, 75, passed away at St Vincent's Hospital this morning.
Mr Lee, who came came to Australia in 1957, helped Bing Lee become one of the largest electrical goods companies in Australia.
According to the company's website, Ken Lee was the eldest, Chinese-born son of Bing Lee, its founder who died in 1987, aged 79.
When Ken Lee took control, the business rapidly expanded partly by attracting Anglo-Saxon consumers while maintaining its base among Sydney's ethnic communities.
Around the turn of the century the franchisee concept was introduced to the business. Today, around two-thirds of Bing Lee retail outlets are run by franchisees, the website said.
In fiscal year 2005/06 turnover exceeded $300 million for the first time.
