Children find it difficult to concentrate on or pay attention to their study in school. What are the reasons? How can we solve this problem?

It is not uncommon to hear the complaint that children nowadays are easily distracted from what they are supposed to do in class. The factors responsible for this problem and feasible solutions accordingly will be analyzed in this report.
Among all the possible reasons, the excessive application of electronic products in school should bear the blame. Children born and raised in this digital age have been accustomed to keeping in touch with the outside world through their smart phones or iPad. As a result, various social media and mobile game APPs bring the world closer to them but dampen their enthusiasm on absorbing knowledge and skills.
To expand their attention span in class and solve this problem, there are some measures that need to be taken into consideration. It is advisable for teachers, who usually function as the monitors and managers of the class,to set rules about phone using. For example, anyone caught using electronic products for non-academic purposes more than three times will be given an “F”in the final exam. This can bring an immediate and tangible outcome within a short time.
In addition, distracting students from screens back to the whiteboard is also a way worth trying. Some activities designed for raising energy level of students so as to get them better involved in class can be applied wisely, like role-play,mingling,seminar etc. These kind of activities convert the traditionally teacher-centered teaching pattern into the student-centered one and consequently compete with phones for student's interest and attention.
In conclusion, the abuse of electronic products in the classroom is the root cause of students' attention issues and the responsibility of sparing students from this problem falls on teachers.

Being able to concentrate and focus for sustained periods is a skill that children will need to develop in order to make the most Of their education. While most children will naturally develop a greater attention span as they grow older and get used to the school environment and expectations, some continue to struggle to focus on a task or an activity.
In this digital age of smart phones and social me a, there are plenty of distractions to tempt the wandering mind where study tasks are concerned. From surfing the webpage to instant messaging, constant distractions compete for children's attention. It is not uncommon to witness a child listening to his iPod while doing his homework. With so many potential interruptions, can be difficult for children to stop and focus on the task at hand.
There are some practical and manageable tips teachers and parents can use to help their children focus, complete their task both at school and home and ultimately succeed. Initially, setting early expectations is an essential start, such as explaining to children their priorities at school and home and in the community. The earlier teachers and parents set expectations and establish a routine for studying, the easier it will be to maintain. Additionally, managing and.minimizihg the number Of distractions that can pull a child's focus away is another, important Step. parents can help their children by insisting that certain responsibilities are met before privileges are granted. That is because young people sometimes have a tendency to proritize short-term needs and wants over longer-term goals.
To conclude, helping children develop self-discipline, effective focus strategies and concentration skills at an early age is a basis for long-term success in high school, college and the professional working world. Therefore, teachers and parents should put more consideration into the issue.

Students ought to spend most of their time on the school work, but nowadays it is not uncommon that students are simply not able to put their heart to study.
(2) It is not uncommon that… ……
(3) Put one's heart to…
There could be two reasons why this happens. First, today the students are surrounded by so many distractions that they gradually find that learning is too boring and uninteresting. While students two decades ago had nearly no choice but sit in the classroom and read books, students today have easy and fast access to Internet, on which they can do almost all things. For instance, they can play computer games, watch videos, search for any information they need, and chat with their friends, to mention just a few. So, having been used to this kind of“easy” online life, many young people simply cannot put their heart into the more serious and consuming school work.
比如:while…; so, having done…, they…
(2)Distraction: 干扰
(3)Access:
(4)To name just a few:如此等等;诸如此类
(5)Consuming 耗费的(比如time-consuming耗时的;energy-consuming耗能量的)
Another important factor that affects the students' attitude towards their school work is that a good education seems not as important as before. For quite a long time, receiving a good education was the only way for young people to get a decent job and earn a high salary. But now, this is apparently not the case any more. Influenced by business stars like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, many young people now begin to believe that one's success does not have much to do the education s/he receives. The students, therefore, are not motivated enough to focus on their learning.
(2)Factor 因素
(3)Decent 体面的
(4)Apparently
(5)Motivated
As education of the young is so important to the future of the world, we ought to find ways out of this embarrassing situation. For example, the school and parents should work together to set limitson the time children spend online. Internet is a good great invention, yet obsession with it will certainly reduce the time that should have been put to more serious work. Besides, young people should be made to understand that life is not just about making money, but about having rich and colorful experience and education is the best gateway to that rewarding life. (349 words)
(1) Embarrassing
(2) Set limits on… 给……设限
(3) Obsession (with) 沉迷(于……)
(4) Gateway 通路
(5) Rewarding

The diagrams below show the changes of a town called Bridgetown in 1700 and 2000.
The modification for a town, Bridgetown, during the period of 1700 to 2000 is clearly illustrated in the given maps.
Before reconstruction, the town was divided into two parts by a river. A bridge across the river connected the roads in the northwest and southeast. In the northwestern part of the town,a large piece of land was occupied by some woods, with a market place located inside and a castle situated to the north, while on the other side of the river, the land was mainly used for farming.
By the year of 2000,great changes have taken place in this town. To be more specific,a railway line was newly built adjacent to the bridge and a bypass was extended from the roads for better transport. The former castle was replaced by a school and similarly, the farmland in the southwest of the town was reconstructed into a build-up area.
Overall, the layout of the town remained unchanged but some newly-constructed facilities ornamented this area and made it more modern.

In some countries, some people prefer to rent houses to buying them. Please give your opinions on the advantages and disadvantages.

Nowadays, people in many countries choose to rent houses instead of buying them. As far as I am concerned, there are more advantages of this phenomenon.
The most obvious drawback is that people will lead an unstable life if they rent houses. That is to say, sometimes people cannot decide how long they will stay in a house since this is partly depends on the landlord. And people have to relocate every now and then, which may influence their work or study. For example, someone who used to live next to his company may have to take up another job because his new house is far away from his company. By contrast, if he purchases a house and live in it, he can enjoy a much more regular life.
However, the advantage is more far-reaching. People do not have to bear such high financial pressure, at least in the short term. And as a result of this, people can enjoy a relatively relaxing life with less pressure and more importantly when choosing jobs, working people can focus on the training, promotion and environment rather than just the salary, which are all key factors to a promising career and they even can take some extra courses to improve themselves. If they have to pay mortgage every month, it is less likely for them to pay attention to factors other than salary.
Considering the advantage and disadvantage discussed above, I believe it is a wise choice for people to rent a house, especially for young working people.
