KUALA LUMPUR: Inti Universal Holdings Bhd’s (Inti) major shareholder Inti Supreme Holdings Sdn Bhd has sold its 51.2% stake comprising 105.5 million shares in the local private college operator to US-based Laureate Education Inc for RM126.6 million or RM1.20 a share, paving the way for an eventual mandatory general offer (MGO).
Laureate said it was the world’s largest operator of private international universities with a presence in 18 countries, and it was looking to Malaysia as a significant base for its operations.
Laureate chief executive Douglas L Becker said: “The competing objectives of expanding access to the higher education system while improving quality are something that Laureate has successfully done throughout the world, and hopes to emulate in Malaysia.
美国罗瑞特教育集团（Laureate Education Inc）收购英迪控股（Inti，7331，主板贸服股）51.2股权，并计划全面献购该公司其余股权。其在18个国家都有控股学校。
