Dear Everyone,
Hope you are doing well.
Congratulations on our intern Angie who successfully secured two positions over the space of 6 months. Her first role was Account Payable Officer and her second role was Assistant Accountant. Both roles are in Sydney.
After graduating 2 years ago, Angie found it difficult to land any accounting job without local experience in Australia.
So she decided to join Platinum's Accounting Training and Internship program. After a few months of gaining practical accounting skills and obtaining interview tips from the program, Angie landed her first job, followed by another one several months later.
We received her interview feedback after two reference checks and she is more than happy to share this news to everyone.
We have been helping many students to secure their first accounting job in Australia, some of them even suffered a long period of waiting and struggle.

Subject: Interview Feedback
Hi Jeff, Ollie and Lee,
Thanks a lot for your help with the reference check! I was offered a contract accounts payable job back in April in a listed company and then another role, reconciliation officer in a large corporation. The intern practice and courses I learnt in the assistant accountant program helped me quite a lot, giving me a good understanding of the daily and monthly duty for an AA.I always quickly review those notes before I go to an interview.
Although most jobs I got are contract work, I feel I learn and accumulate some skills, like MYOB, SAP, excel formulas and Pronto and hopefully I can swith to AA position recently.
There are some questions I would like to share either from employers or agents during the interview.
AP role questions
1.Can you handle with the suppliers' enquiries, how many invoices you can post everyday?
2.Do you know how to do pivot table
3 What software have you used
4.Do you know how to code expenses?
5.Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses
6.What's your career plan in 5 years
AA Role questions
1.Tell me how you understand this role.
2.Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?
3.How is your excel skill
4.Have you done BAS or FBT before
5.What general account you look after in your previous job
6.I was given a task to clear reconciliation items and requied to use excel formulas to solve it out.
From my personal experience, employers and agents mostly raise questions based on your experience demonstrated in your resume and those key elements required in the position you apply. And doing some research for the company and job duties can be quite helpful to open the doors.
Good luck with everyone's job seeking.
Regards
