话说这个边缘艺术节（Ｅｄｉｎｂｕｒｇｈ Ｆｅｓｔｉｖａｌ Ｆｒｉｎｇｅ）是在爱丁堡艺术节早期，一些名气虽小却很有才华，但却没有机会展示自己的艺术团体愤而自组一个音乐节，经过几十年的发展成为今天的综合性艺术节，名气和规模已远远超过爱丁堡艺术节下辖的其他艺术节，成为爱丁堡艺术节的主角。每年艺术节期间，来自世界各地的艺术家在爱丁堡这座古老小城的２００多个艺术场所上演超过１０００场的戏剧和音乐会。
