I bought my laptop Apple Powerbook 12.1" G4 867MHz 640M at my school McGill computer store. They have educational discount for students and school staffs.So I saved around CAD$400. It looks very compact and solid. The keyboard is great and like other Apple Powerbook series, it is pretty quite too. If you are looking for a desktop replacement, then maybe 17" powerbook is a good fit. It is just another wonderful machine to play with.
Mac OS X is a very stable OS, since it is based on FreeBSD. Also, GUI is much better than windows xp. Plus, I can get all Mac commercial software from my research lab for free.
