Admittedly, telephone has a great impact on the life of contemporary people, who may no longer see the necessity to rely on snail mail as their sole communication method with their friends or family members. However, compared with television, telephone may be overshadowed.
First and foremost, television can act as a window for people to know about the world around them. For instance, the earthquake in Chili which happened months ago really has a devastating effect on the Chili people and put them under great need of help. And at this urgent moment, it is the television that could spread the sad news immediately around the globe and people who got the news from the television could immediately lend a hand to the victims there. So in this context, television is really helpful.
Secondly, television can strengthen the family ties. We have our must-see program at the beginning of each year, which is the celebration show of Spring Festival on CCTV. It is really of great joy and fun to gather together, savor the dumplings and meanwhile, watch the wonderful TV show; that could be hardly imagined if we date back to one century ago. We love the shows and we enjoy the warm atmosphere.
What’s more, television can improve our life quality. One might feel really worn out after one day’s drudgery, so it’s time to adopt some effective way to reduce our stress and find some distraction. And right at this time, television just meets the requirement. It now provides us with almost everything we would like to watch through the cable, such as the news, series or even films.
